Hi all

I know my subject relates to the other county forum but not sure what else to do. I’ve registered on ATC, clicked the activation link which was successful and now it just states ‘Pending staff approval’ and has been like this since the end of last week. I haven’t received any emails and I cannot find any contact info that enables me to contact the administrator on ATC as a Guest. I’m just posting on here as hoping an ATC Administrator or someone who knows him/her is on here. Any help much appreciated. If not allowed on here my sincere apologies. H

It now seems obvious that you are not going to approve my registration or even communicate around it.
Therefore please can you delete all information and data relating to my registration AND confirm in writing back to me that you are no longer storing any data relating to me.
I will stick with wearexiles who seem more than happy just to have members who wish to contribute to their forums.
I look forward to receiving your reply confirming this.

Another week goes by and still no reply or communication from Uptheport to my last post. However and I’ve only just noticed this today, Uptheport has decided to communicate via a thread (from 10/5/24) on the ATC forum about emails for new registration which includes reference to my membership request.

Some of his bullet points below with my thoughts underneath. Only responding really because I still don’t understand why refused and to be honest, it does frustrate me that people make decisions that don’t make sense and then offer no real explanation, followed by silence (I think probably because they can’t justify their decision)?

- I will not accept emails addresses you have clearly set up Just to join this forum he/she has set up an email address just to join here

How do you know when any member you have previously accepted their registration, didn’t just set up an email address just to join? So what if they did! Just for your info cos I don’t mind explaining, I use different email addresses for different things eg a main email, one for work, one for all things banking, one for online shopping, one for holidays/travel, one for forums, blogs etc - it’s how I prefer to use them and helps me manage spam etc

- It's an easy way to beat bans etc

Can you beat a ban? I’m not sure you can? If you do something against the forum rules, you get banned, and rightly so, then you’re not on there anymore. It doesn’t sound fair to ban someone BEFORE they’ve done anything against forum guidelines.

- Point being if they ever got banned they would only need to set up another email address I'm not excepting throw away emails

How many members have ever been banned? Surely not that high a number is it? And every email is throw away or could be - isn’t it? How do you identify what a throw away email is? Please can you explain. A member could have got banned for doing something against forum rules and then used another email address they’ve had for 1 day or 10 years to register again. How do you know? I genuinely don’t know so would like you to offer some further insight. Also what difference does it make how long they’ve had it for? You don’t ask for ID for any registration request so anyone could be anyone, whatever their email address is and no matter how long they’ve had it.
I’ve had maybe 2 constant email addresses since the dawn of time, others I’ve changed due to contracts expiring, changing providers or broadband contracts, needing or wanting new ones for different uses etc. but that’s my prerogative and choice, is it not?

If I’m not wanted on the forum there’s not a lot I can I do about it so then my biggest issue is the lack of communication. I’m sure Uptheport or Pembexile could quite easily have communicated with me by email off forum.
I couldn’t message them off forum as there is no option to contact the forums admin until you are a registered member. I wasn’t sure if they just hadn’t noticed there was someone there to be approved. Just leave it there ‘pending approval’!!!

I really appreciate people like Jack, Uptheport and Pembsexile taking the time, energy and effort to run these forums. After just viewing both forums for the last couple of years, I’m aware of Bangit’s and Stan’s (and a few others) arguments/discussions etc and although some threads could end up being quite childish the depths they both went to, I often agreed with points made by both of them. It seemed to me that many members were more concerned about who they are, what their angle was, rather than what they had to say.

So this season having only previously read from afar, I thought I’d join both forums and maybe contribute now and again. Not to argue or belittle people. Just contribute. Offer an opinion. The same as the rest of you. Probably won’t be that often due to work and family etc.

Jack and Winston62 don’t seem bothered about my registration request for ATC. Nor does Pembexile it seems, as he couldn’t see what was wrong or different to anyone else registering. Winston62 was right in that my main point being not receiving any response, which was and is my point. Uptheport did reply once on WAE to advise why my original email registration was not satisfactory. I didn’t really understand the issue but I registered using another one anyway. Then silence. No reply at all. I wonder if he’s one of those that constantly moan about a lack of communication from the club or the trust. That would be ironic wouldn’t it?

We have a good community on Allthingscounty.freeforums.net who've all registered without throw away emails

We aren't desperate for new members but your welcome to join
