2Bit of useless information for you about Maxi Jazz and Faithless. I first heard their Insomnia track coming from my then 14 yr old daughters bedroom. I liked it immediately even if I didn’t know who it was. Once heard never forgotten.
The famous riff was actually written by Sister Bliss and her partner Rollo. They had difficulty writing the lyrics so they approached Maxi Jazz for some help. After many weeks of struggle in the studio they were getting nowhere and were struggling. Sister Bliss turned to Maxi and said, ‘Look I know we have a good tune, we are going to call it Insomnia, coz I can’t get no sleep. Maxi left the room and the rest as they say, is history.
