Just the first signs of BBC hysteria creeping in. The first ten minutes of this evening's news were given over to England's match/result. :-?

Also a brilliant observation by the commentator after Poland scored their late penalty... "well the goal doesn't alter the scoreline"........ really??

Another odd comment in that France v Poland game.Poland brought two subs on after 86 minutes,it was both players’ first involvement in the tournament. The female commentator seemed to think both players wouldn’t really want to come on so late as they were almost out. Now,what player would rather be a unused player in a World Cup Finals than say to their grandchildren that they actually played in it,even if it were only 10 minutes.

There is absolutely no reason why women should not be in the commentry teams at the World Cup or any other sporting events. Unfortunately it does seem that too many women are getting the gig not on merit but because they are women and regardless of the fact they know f@ck all about football.

Brazil brought on their third choice keeper late on,that means all 26 players have played in the tournament. We didn’t use all our subs against England and finished up with Ampadu as a emergency RB.It would have been a nice touch if Page had given Gunter a final cap at the end, just for him to finish his International career in the FWC.

Indeed the talent pool for female commentators is smaller than for males that does not necessarily mean lesser talent but no doubt easier for aspiring female ones. A mate of mine was a pro commentator for a few years for various outlets BUT rather like acting it’s famine & feast he got £300 or so per gig and did up to 3 or even 4 a week but the work varies and most are freelance too-in the end he went back to the 9-5.
