Maybe the numbers aren't curtailed by principled people who have declined to travel to a country such as Qatar?excessbee wrote: December 3rd, 2022, 7:36 pm Maybe because two South American teams have a genuine chance of winning the tournament. They have travelled more in expectation than hope.
There is absolutely no reason why women should not be in the commentry teams at the World Cup or any other sporting events. Unfortunately it does seem that too many women are getting the gig not on merit but because they are women and regardless of the fact they know f@ck all about football.Percy plunkett wrote: December 5th, 2022, 6:38 pm Another odd comment in that France v Poland game.Poland brought two subs on after 86 minutes,it was both players’ first involvement in the tournament. The female commentator seemed to think both players wouldn’t really want to come on so late as they were almost out. Now,what player would rather be a unused player in a World Cup Finals than say to their grandchildren that they actually played in it,even if it were only 10 minutes.
Indeed the talent pool for female commentators is smaller than for males that does not necessarily mean lesser talent but no doubt easier for aspiring female ones. A mate of mine was a pro commentator for a few years for various outlets BUT rather like acting it’s famine & feast he got £300 or so per gig and did up to 3 or even 4 a week but the work varies and most are freelance too-in the end he went back to the 9-5.Stan A.
