Anyone feeling need to reduce spending? I’m not [yet] but do feel guilty/anxious about spending things mount up costs wise and even a sarnie/coffee I’m eating in a cafe as I post is becoming a luxury when once it was just what I did…posting apropos not much

Invested in a ninja multi cooker fantastic bit of kit it's cheaper to run than an oven and I'm batch cooking stews chillies curries etc taking them to work as well so not spending in work canteen

It also cook's meat brilliant cooked a chicken in 50 minutes steam it for 40 minutes then put on drycrisp mode for 10 minutes browns it's lovely when you take out the chicken it's literally falling off the bone.

It's all trial and error with the ninja but I'm getting there

It’s definitely trial and error Jim with the air fryer. Got one last week and did five portions of chips for us and the grandkids straight away. They hated them! Said they weren’t done enough. Done some other stuff with them since and it’s improved.

I spend slightly less on booze and petrol but the bloody heating bill is rocketing. It’s gonna be a long winter.

Afternoon Mike with chips I steam for 6 minutes first let them cool tiny drop of oil and sea salt put them in for 15-20 minutes in airfryer pinch one if it's soft in middle they are good to go

We picked up a Ninja air fryer. We're still getting used to it but it's going pretty well.

Slow cooker gets plenty of use too now though I don't have a big range. Briskets/chillis/curries/pulled pork.
Plus rice puddings occasionally.

Beers - I've taken to buying near/past sell by date beers online. They work out at about £1 a bottle (bottle size up to 500ml).

Petrol - I now just buy 1/2 a tank as previously I was dragging a full tank of fuel around unnecessarily.

The main saving is heating. We've each got a Kuddl.y (basically a humongous fleece-lined hoodie). Our heating hasn't been on this year and long may that continue.

If you live in Newport/ cwmbranistan area Sainsbury's cwmbranistan petrol is 159.9 at moment that's 7 p cheaper than Newport had to go there yesterday so filled up
