14 Newport County v Manchester United
Referee: David Coote
Assistant referees: Timothy Wood & Craig Taylor
Fourth official: Andrew Kitchen
Re: Officials for Sunday
2No VAR I'm guessing? Here's to a dodgy County winner from a double handball in the 114th minute.
Re: Officials for Sunday
3They only do VAR in FA Cup where it is already installed but we did install goal line technology for one of our televised FA Cup matches previously so I suppose that is a possibility again.
btw this will be his first time playing Man United as well.

Re: Officials for Sunday
4Coote refereed the 2023 EFL cup final (Man U 2 Newcastle 0). Last season he issued 4 reds and 136 yellows in 33 games. This season 3 red and 58 yellows in 12 games so far. So he doesn't issue many red cards.
Re: Officials for Sunday
5Not sure I agree with your maths there. Three reds in 12 games is 25%. Assuming he handed out red cards evenly, in effect County would receive a red once every eight games. Which with Cup games would mean County getting six or seven reds in a season.G Guest wrote: January 23rd, 2024, 7:32 pm Coote refereed the 2023 EFL cup final (Man U 2 Newcastle 0). 6On reflection, I agree that Coote issues more reds than I suggested. The only red card in L1 and L2 last Saturday was the one given in our game. So 7 in 45 games is probably well up there with most refs.

7We’d better behave ourselves in the box then as the actress said to the bishop.Stan A. Einstein wrote: January 23rd, 2024, 10:34 pmNot sure I agree with your maths there.
