If you're in the squad then you need to be ready to play. From what I've seen he looks a good shot-stopper. The sending off in the BSM Trophy was unfortunate, partly caused by an under-strength headed ball from a defender which left Carney with the option of taking the ball or the man. He took one for his side...

Carney is not up to EFL standard in my opinion. It is not difficult to find a good goalkeeper, there are lots around.

You can only assess that by exposing him to playing at that level.
I can only assume that Jim Hollman (goalkeeping coach) and Jardim believe he is up to standard, otherwise they would have asked Townsend not to go on international duties...

In his autobiography Pat Jennings recounts a story of playing on a very muddy pitch at a youth international in his teenage years. At half time he changed his shirt. As he left the field at the end of the game a spectator who clearly thought that the new shirt represented a new player shouted out, "Well played son, you were so much better than that bloody clown we had in goal in the first half".
Whether Carney is up to League football or not I have no idea. But on the limited exposure he has had thus far neither does anyone else.

So Brennan RB and Cam Evans LB. It could work, though I doubt Brennan has played there before. But it smacks of a one-game solution and doesn't necessarily offer up the opportunity to see whether Sanca could function in the LB position as an option to Glennon. And is Jardim considering Brennan, Cam Evans or Baker as RB next week?

Oh dear indeed. Neither team looked like scoring. We are playing it about a bit but not creating anything of note. Need to step it up.

That was just shocking. Harrogate are by far the worst team I've seen this season. We made them look reasonable.

Well, I would rate Harrogate as almost as poor as Salford, but we really gifted them three points with a thoroughly unacceptable performance. There was no urgency or pace in any phase. We had looked comfortable without offering any threat and you would think that after gifting them a goal, we would have put them under immediate pressure. For the first twenty minutes after half time, we did their defending for them by faffing about with the ball in our own half and nobody carried the ball across the halfway line with any purpose. Great save by Carney at the end to prevent a second goal but that doesn't make up for his error. Some fans seem to claim he was fouled. To me he just spilled a straightforward overhit cross. No need for a man of the match poll, none deserved a vote.

With the obvious lethargy of the Team today begs the question of whether we travelled up yesterday or this morning to save on costs. If the latter then I can understand why we witnessed a lacklustre performance, if not then we have a problem.
Also why only 6 on the bench today?
