Grandstand - Salford (H) Tuesday 1st October

Match tonight. Brennan back from his three game ban. But does he go straight back into the team or do County stick with the same 11 that started v Crewe?

Suspect that Jameson may not be fit to start tonight, therefore Brennan will come in.

He appeared to have a strain on Saturday but managed to play on. Agree it may be sensible to rest it if it's causing any discomfort, but as there has been no mention of it post-match it may not be anything serious...

A surprise leaving CBR on the bench and starting with Hudlin.

Well that was an eye opener. Hudlin stole the match. Involved in all 3 goals. Brilliant.

A bit of squad rotation and the changes seemed to work out. Thought Hudlin and Mawene had good games and Antwi playing higher up the pitch when he came on was an improvement from Saturday.
Bit disappointed about conceding a bit of a soft goal but other than that it was a very pleasing night...

Unfortunately Antwi blazed over the bar twice from good positions. Spoilt his performance for me. But a good night for us nevertheless with maybe a bogie laid to rest to boot.

He's a youngster playing mens football. He got over-excited twice. It happens.
Lets look at the positives. Jardim felt confident enough in Hudlin to give CBR a rest and it paid off. Brennan, seen as a defensive leader, wasn't required in the back four. Glennon seems to becoming more defensively sound. The Evans boys (Cam and Keiron) both have had two consistently good performances. Hudlin and Spellman both scored their first County goals which means their confidence will be high. The changes surprised Salford and by the time they adapted they were 2-0 down (though struggled with Hudlin throughout his time on the pitch.
And the win/loss record this season continues. What a season that would be if County could keep that going for all 46 games...

Just adding in the mini-episode we've done (Ep197) on last night's game for anyone who might've missed it on the pinned thread at the top of the board. Enjoy!

It is possible that Nelson just preferred Hudlin to CBR, who let’s be honest has not exactly set the world alight with his striking prowess. In fact, after last night’s stellar performance, Hudlin should be the automatic start on Monday.

Agree with the last post, Hudlin was great on Tuesday, when CBR came on as sub he was largely ineffective, admittedly though it was a hard act to follow.

I didn’t realise this until now, but Hudlin is rated the world’s tallest player.

Hudlin is already 24 years old. No longer a kid and is certainly old enough to claim the number 9 spot on a regular basis.

In my mind he was younger. And that belief made me think he could grow into his frame, but he should have finished growing at that age. County need to speak with Huddersfield about putting him on a high calorie diet and putting a bit more muscle on his pipe-cleaner legs...

In fairness, he’s probably one of those players who probably benefits from a slim physique. He’s quite pacy so the extra muscle could actually slow him down.
