PLOUGH Lane closed after sinkhole appears on pitch.following heavy rain.
Morecambe fought back from 2 nil down at Fleetwood last night ably assisted by Adam Lewis to draw 2 all.

Yes it was a really good watch. If Morecambe are a “ basket case “ , what are we after our last 3 league games

I actually thought that both Morecambe and Fleetwood looked very good. Watching that game did nothing for the nerves when thinking of Newport’s recent performances.

I can't see the pitch problems at Plough Lane being resolved in the short term. I'm no expert but there seems to have been too much sand in the bedrock of the ground. Perhaps also if you're building close to a river (?on a flood plain) perhaps raising the level of the pitch a bit higher might have been wise.
They may need to groundshare for a couple of months to allow reparative work to be done...

It certainly won't be a quick job. Their EFL Cup tie with Newcastle has been switched to St James Park.

Just think how long the RP pitch has to be left during the summer when minor reparation work is carried out. And that's during the 'growing season'. They'll have to get the diggers in to find out if there's a long-standing problem underneath the pitch that wasn't found when the ground was rebuilt, repair it and then allow some time for any grass to regrow. That may need lighting to speed up the growth, if they can afford it.
Good to see the supporters have started a fund to help the club through the crisis. It shows the type of Supporters Trust that Newport County should have had, instead of the 'closed shop' that we actually had....
