Well the second Saturday. It's more in hope than expectation but at five to three hope just about wins.

Hope triumphs again. Really funny I have been dreading today but just before kick-off I suddenly felt optimistic.

As so often with County, they beat the supposedly 'better' teams and lose against the 'poorer' teams.
Thought today County were pretty good. Yes the goal conceded possibly should have been defended better, but it was a really good shot.
Defensively we weren't too bad. I saw County pre-season v Barry and the Baker/Clarke partnership look far better than Seberry/Jameson, so wasn't too surprised to see a solid performance. Brennan looked more at home in a back 5 than he did as a defensive midfielder and had a good game. I particularly like to see him tearing a strip off Whitmore for not doing his defensive duties when Clarke briefly went off for an injury stoppage.
I like the look of the midfield. There seems to be a bit of rotation of positions, so if one goes forward someone drops back. Wildig seems to have more freedom and Whitmore looked a real threat going forward. Antwi had the quieter game of the three but is tidy in what he did and seemed to play positive passes.
CBR had a typical CBR game, lots of running, held the ball up generally well and Kamwa had an almost typical 'wingers' game, bit in and out of the game, but lots of tricky running.
I thoroughly enjoyed the game. Decent show, but when they are more used to playing together there are improvements to come.
That 7th placing I made pre-season isn't looking too fanciful any more...

Happy to admit my extreme pessimism may be flawed. I’m especially pleased for Whitmore and Kamwa who looked very good indeed and a special mention for Glennon who I thought was poor but was exemplary today, it seems I’m on a learning curve this season.

Official attendance 4,755. Very good and they may all be back having seen a v. good match.

Not only you on a learning curve. It hasn't taken Jardim long to ditch 4-3-3 for a 5-3-2...

Someone needs to wind down the volume control on the half time music. I use the term very loosely, but although it may not have been to my taste, it was impossible to have any sort of conversation with the person sitting alongside me, just a foot away. Had to shout at eachother. Not necessary and very unpleasant.

Couldn’t agree more, it was ridiculously loud.

Nothing like a good win to inject some belief and optimism into the club!
While we’re still a signing or two away from having a team that I believe can withstand the rigours of an entire L2 season, it’s an encouraging win.
The question now is, can we build some momentum?

Winning yesterday has so many positive spin offs. Confidence for the whole group, confidence for the fans, confidence in the manager, top half position ( I know it's early but better than bottom half), bigger gate for the next match. Come on the Port, we've started the new journey with a destination yet to be revealed. Exciting isn't it!

Yes it is B&H ! Must admit I got that game all wrong. I expected Donny to extend their lead after ht and cruise it, instead we blew them away. It was most gratifying and I’m always happy to be proved wrong !

If you want to be picky then the performance was not without faults. But with Morris and Spellman yet to figure and Greaves out with a foot injury due back, there's already a headache looming for selection. And that's even before you start looking at those at have been playing substitutes or the wider squad. Confidence is bound to be high after a good performance following an indifferent pre-season and two losses on the road.
