Totally unsubstantiated rumour (with no basis at all)

Okay we were told that Will Evans was being signed by Mansfield Town. We were told he was undergoing a medical yesterday. Nothing since. Now I don't know how long results of a medical take to be processed but generally on the last day of a transfer window it all seems to be concluded quite quickly.

So let's just say that something has come up on the medical and Mansfield are not willing to proceed with the purchase. What do County now do? Play him or try and hawk him to someone else.

Disclaimer. I realise that there's a possibility that I'm going to look very silly when the transfer is announced later this afternoon...

It's not quite that simple. I'm not saying this is the case merely pointing out a possibility.

Mansfield offer £500,000 subject to a medical. The medical takes place. Mansfield then say the tests show a potential weakness in the cruciate ligament. Therefore our offer is reduced to £150,000.

Again I'm not saying that is the case, this is speculation on speculation. But anyone who has ever bought or sold a house knows that this type of negotiation goes on.

Rumoured on the Mansfield forum that a photo shoot has been arranged for this afternoon. Will’s brinkmanship may have paid off.
