Saturday 15th February.

Since promotion back to the Football League in 2013, County and Mansfield have met fifteen times. Mansfield have achieved two doubles while County none.
Both clubs faced each other for three successive seasons in the Conference National before both were promoted to the Football League in May 2013. County did the double on Mansfield this season, including an opening day fixture at Field Mill which saw a 4-3 victory.

All matches between both clubs since both clubs were promoted to L2 in May 2013:

This was the last match Elliott Parish played in goal for County.

This was County's third league match of the season and a third loss though things improved after this match as they lost just two of their next twenty two.
The games only goal came in the second minute from Chris Clements.

Newport County 0-1 Mansfield Town.
The Stags, just four points above the drop zone, beat County for the third successive time. The games only goal came in the final five minutes from Reggie Lambe. County remained seventh after thirty four games.

2015 / 2016:
Mansfield 3-0 Newport County.
A fourth straight loss for County against the Stags. This was John Sheridan's second game in charge after replacing Terry Butcher. The sides were level at the break.
Goals from Craig Westcarr, Malvind Benning and a third during injury time from Adi Yussuf gave the Stags the points. Ex County Midfielder Adam Chapman played the full ninety minutes for the Stags. County remained bottom after twelve games while Mansfield were fourth.

Newport County 1-0 Mansfield Town.
A reverse to last seasons fixture at Rodney Parade in that the games only goal came with approx five minutes remaining but to the home side this time, giving County a first victory against the Stags since returning to the Football League. Scott Boden got the goal. Adam Chapman was an unused sub on this occasion. County rose to eighteenth while play-off hopefuls Mansfield dropped to ninth.

Aggregate 1-1.
County won 5-3 via penalties.

Stags supporters booed their team off at half time.Chance after chance was created but both goalies were on form.It eventually came to penalties. County were two up at the break with goals from Joss Labadie and a penalty by Padraig Amond. So if I've totted it up correctly, our goal difference against Mansfield over the games you've listed is : FOR 12....AGAINST 26...Diff -14
So probably 2-1 to them on paper today. but of course football's not played on paper. Great write up by the way, as always.

Good Morning!

This is one of my “regular “ games to get to, as daughter lives in nearby Nottingham. Rarely do I go with much optimism, but it’s a football match, and occasionally things go different to the expected!
Last time we did win against the odds, a memorable match to take us through to Wembley. Numbers of County fans will be considerably less this time.
I foresee a scrappy game under the influence of storm Dennis, high balls causing chaos swirling around in the high winds, this will favour “hoof” ball and see us scrape through 4-0!

Come on County!

No use hoping for a postponement as the injury list doesn’t look like it’s capable of improvement. From no injuries to loads of injuries in less than a week - only at the County eh? As Corky said a point would be really good but expecting nothing today. Injuries are inevitable but signing injured players is taking one hell of a chance on their recovery. Best of luck to those hardy souls travelling, it’s one hell of a day out there. Up the County!

12 goals in a side that struggles to score is not bad so I wonder why Amond appears to be the fall guy at the moment. The real struggle is any support from midfield Labs has been woeful in front of goal and for all the positive comments around Sheehan and Willmott their goal return is poor and below what it should be. Is this tactics or is this the players not sure.
Looking forward to a change in tactics later - hoofing it aimlessly wont work in these conditions.

All I can think of is lack of pace but spin a coin Matt-Amond it would be for me Padraig.
Even with no pace, in the box he still feeds off scraps.
Amond 12 out of 27 is a decent average. Like you say its the rest not scoring.
