My message yesterday on the 'Clubs in trouble' thread was very quickly swamped by all the other frivolous threads.George Street-Bridge wrote:As it looks like Gillingham might not have a game on Saturday because they are due to play Bury, there's every chance our fringe players will be up against their strongest League One team.

17That may be true but in fairness to MF he was advising the fans to keep their ‘hard earned’ for Saturday.Alan G Bryant wrote:It sends totally the wrong message to the lads on the periphery of the team in my view
I am sure that whatever team is put out they will all try their best.

18No money to be earned in this competition.
We can earn more with a couple of wins in the Mickey Mouse Cup.
Flynny may not even go rather watch Plymouth.
Great chance for virtually a full second 11 to play.
Their big chance to push on or screw up.
see Robbie is up for it.

Until we have a sugar daddy
No room for passengers in the squad
Thanks for reading all

20Over the years have been away to Chelsea Everton Crystal Palace and Wolves in this competition as well as trips to local rivals Swansea Cardiff and both Bristol clubs. Fond memories of dumping Cardiff out despite playing both legs at Ninian Park.
Sad to see us not taking it seriously when we could have a premier league or top championship side in the next round, still if we do achieve promotion this season ( and its a big if ) that would be better.

Now pretend the board made that statement and think what your reaction would be, be honest now
Re: Flynn: "Don't go to Gillingham!"
22So, will we give O'Brien a run-out or save him for the league?
We could go:
Townsend
Leadbitter, O'Brien, Lazar, Ekpiteta
Willmott, Maloney, Nurse
Marsh-Brown, Abrahams, Whiteley

23Don't get this we hardly got money to throw away a second round tie v the likes of the Jack's or bin dippers could bring good money and round 3 could pull a prem big boys

25A home game against the "bin dippers" - who let's not forget lent us their ground to train on before the Wembley final - would probably cost more for security than we'd take at the gate. (Okay, exaggeration for effect.) But it would be a nightmare draw in any competition.

No way you're serious?
OB costs would only be small
Bring them on I say

27Unlike you to be critical of anyone at Newport County. Gavin and Mick have a fall out did they?Alan G Bryant wrote:It sends totally the wrong message to the lads on the periphery of the team in my view

Who paid for the 4th kit ????? Why wasnt the 3rd kit ready ????

Appreciate a big draw gets us 45% of the gate.
AGB I doubt if it was the boards decision, in fact of course it wasn't of course.
Think every body would explode if GF told Flynny not to try including Flynny.
Great chance for those on the periphery though to shine.

30It's so long since we played them in a meaningful game – I'm not counting the FAW Premier Cup - but I reckon the police would err on the side of extreme caution and charge a fortune for the privilege.
