Re: EFL2 away followings to date. Taken from 1FF.
2So, as is often the case, Newport County take fewer fans away on average than we receive in visitors.

3After decades of taking hundreds to away grounds and only getting a handful in return, we are massively in credit.newgroundrodney wrote:So, as is often the case, Newport County take fewer fans away on average than we receive in visitors.
Do we punch our weight relative to home gates?
Re: EFL2 away followings to date. Taken from 1FF.
4Thought it was the other way round. We normally average 300-400 on our travels with 200 odd coming here. This season may be skewed by Swindon, Plymouth, Exeter bringing good followings to RP.newgroundrodney wrote:So, as is often the case, Newport County take fewer fans away on average than we receive in visitors.

5Forest Green have improved since they took 7 to Notts County a few years back!
Re: EFL2 away followings to date. Taken from 1FF.
6I'm not sure, but around 10% of the number of County fans at home games travel away.... That sort of sounds quite a good following, relatively, though not massive numbers.George Street-Bridge wrote:After decades of taking hundreds to away grounds and only getting a handful in return, we are massively in credit.newgroundrodney wrote:So, as is often the case, Newport County take fewer fans away on average than we receive in visitors.

7Can we determine that without knowing the average away attendance at RP?newgroundrodney wrote:So, as is often the case, Newport County take fewer fans away on average than we receive in visitors.
Re: EFL2 away followings to date. Taken from 1FF.
8it's maybe wise to assess it at the season's end, but if your figures are based on 14 games, then currently, the average number of away fans coming TO our ground is 386.7..... a lot less than we take awayfaerun exile wrote:Thought it was the other way round. 10We take an average of 367 away so 20 less than come to RP. The 367 is based on the number of away league games we have played so far which i think is 11.newgroundrodney wrote:it's maybe wise to assess it at the season's end, but if your figures are based on 14 games, then currently, the average number of away fans coming TO our ground is 386.7..... a lot less than we take awayfaerun exile wrote:Thought it was the other way round. 11I meant MORE than we take away.... sorry, just getting over a stroke so making typos all over the place.faerun exile wrote:We take an average of 367 away so 20 less than come to RP. I think our away following as a percentage of our home following is probably quite high, at around 10%
Re: EFL2 away followings to date. Taken from 1FF.
12A possible better measure would take in average home attendance. With that in mind the result is as follows:
Scunthorpe 15.2%
Grimsby 15.0
Port Vale 13.9

Oldham 12.5
Swindon 12.1
Mansfield 11.1

13does this include away followings in each case, or is it home fans only?NearlyDead wrote:A possible better measure would take in average home attendance. With that in mind the result is as follows:

Re: EFL2 away followings to date. Taken from 1FF.
14No. I was vaguely intrigued by the data and it seemed to require some sort of normalisation. I didn't have time to locate/calculate (average home attendance) - (away support).
It's [(average away support (from this page))/(total average home attendance (from Sky Sports website))]×100
In practice, I think it'll only make marginal differences. I might have another go this evening.

Re: EFL2 away followings to date. Taken from 1FF.
15Maybe it should also take into average distance to away grounds. Teams with a lot of short distance away venues will probably have a bigger away following.
