Such a shock him passing away one of my heroes growing up
RIP Bob
Re: Bob Willis
28-43 in the Botham Ashes test in 1981. Watch the video of him when it is happening. We hear a lot about players being 'in the zone'. He certainly was then. Legend. RIP Bob.
Re: Bob Willis
3I was watching the Headingley highlights and noticed most of his wickets were taken with the final ball of the over. I wonder why that might've been.

4That's interesting. At the outset I should say that I don't know but these are my guesses.JonD wrote:I was watching the Headingley highlights and noticed most of his wickets were taken with the final ball of the over. I wonder why that might've been.
At the very top level bowlers 'set up' batsmen. By that I mean that they are not trying to get a wicket with every ball rather get the batsman into a mental position whereby the final killer ball of a series is more likely to get the wicket.
Secondly a batsman intent on survival might just be relaxing one ball too early.
Thirdly it might be like toast always falling butter side down. It doesn't it just seems that way.
In any event another sporting great leaves us. Sad, especially as 70 is these days young.
