4As a friend of mine reminded me, the lineup that enthralled and entertained us greatly at the time was as follows:-
Weare, Bird, Sherwood, Riggs, Peake , Rowlands, Dixon, McSeveny , McPherson , Singer , Smith.
There were two entertaining skilful wingers and a great cf in that forward line too - and Jimmy Singer was no slouch.

5I was there
Remember them all.
Jimmy played for Bournmouth and Birmingham
Ken McPherson and McSeveney were a great pairing prior to Bonson& Hunt.

7I remember as a kid thinking how young Bird looked when he replaced Ken Hollyman who in my young mind looked like a grandfather ( as did Alf Sherwood ) both great players though. “ Granny “ Smith was always a very entertaining winger who often interacted with the fans. They leave a lot of memories.Special branch wrote:Johnny Bird and Granville Smith are still with us.
