47No, he made a comeback from the broken leg. Possibly too soon, and played a full 90 minutes, which won't have helped either.pembsexile wrote:G Guest wrote:County have beaten Brighton on 17 occasions going back to the 1920s. Most recently in 2013 3-1 at their place in League Cup.
Byron Anthony last game iirc.

48He should have retired at 13, after I schooled him for Shaftesbury v Cromwell.excessbee wrote:No, he made a comeback from the broken leg. West Brom? Sheffield United?

50How many live games on the Beeb will there be this round?,The four non league teams at home will be in the running, will they go for all Premier matches or will they go for little old Newport the giant killers going for another big scalp.

53Highly unlikely that any spectators will be there as Welsh government has announced no spectators at any sporting events until further notice.lowandhard wrote:I honestly don’t think Brighton will fancy it that much do you? Seems to me only chance of making any money from the tie is if BBC Wales/S4C show it; if not I suppose there will be some to be had from an increased i follow subscription.
Presume Brighton will rest players if looking likely to be involved in a relegation battle, but if not wouldn't be surprise if they pick their strongest team. Sure they won't appreciate the condition of the pitch by then though.
Re: 3rd round
54It’s a dog eat dog world but if Brighton lost a few games between now and Jan, they may be in a relegation battle. Would they then play their first team against us on a ‘bobbly’ pitch. Hmmm.
Re: 3rd round
55If a team has a COVID case in the squad, does that render the entire squad unable to play, or could the likes of Brighton wheel in their under-23s to fulfil the fixture?
The relaxed Christmas rules over socialising seem likely to increase the likelihood of third round matches being scuppered.

Re: 3rd round
59I think this is a bad draw from County's perspective. First off Brighton are playing really well this season but not getting the results their attractive football deserves. You could argue that there is a parallel between the two sides - both playing (largely) attractive football but squandering chances created. Secondly I would argue that the TV Channels don't really see Brighton as a Premier League side - able to survive for a season or two but when relegated struggle to return. If you like they sit somewhere between PL and Championship, perenial strugglers in one but not good enough in the other to bounce straight back up. This doesn't make them particularly good "box office" because it doesn't provide the "I didn't see that happening" should they lose to a lower league opposition. It would be similar if County had drawn Sheff Utd, West Brom or Fulham. The TV people will look at Southampton v Shrewsbury, Stoke v Leicester or Stockport v West Ham.
Re: 3rd round
60I think you underestimate the extent to which County have themselves become box office in the FA Cup in recent years.
