A number of Sheffield Wednesday players have just turned down 1 month contract extensions to see out this season. Wednesday are not alone in this. Loans are another problem currently e.g. Cardiff

Rhys Kavanagh released by Bristol Rovers,didn’t play a first team game in the three seasons after he left us.Just loans at Bath,Gloucester etc.

Exeter and Northampton release eight and Thirteen players,all clubs reducing costs through this crisis.A few surprise releases in both camps.

No surprise, but Gary Warren among those freed by Exeter.

With all these players on the market, I suspect many will have to ply their trade in lower leagues.

For me the worrying thing is that Championship and League 1 sides will also be releasing players, and the same will apply. However for them the lower Leagues will include League 2.

If and when that happens are County in a position to go into that market? Or were the incomes of Cup runs and transfers squandered?

Considering we're not a million miles away from FGR, I'd love to think that, if there's any silver lining, we could offer him a contract at some point. I know he's struggled with injury, but I still remember him tearing us apart at home the season before last.

He will probably end up playing in The National League for a team like Eastleigh whose budget is far bigger than ours on twice the wage we could offer him

One thing about FGR going right back to when we were picking up players they released in their early years in the Conference is they always knew exactly when to let players go.
