I'd like to see Mickey Demetriou. Consistent and passionate.

I mentioned this a couple of years ago, but I'd always assumed who was captain was no big deal until reading "Journeyman" by Ben Smith, who was a Conference/League 2 midfielder and nearly joined us when Holdsworth was manager. As he describes things, players set enormous store by it.

Not only should he be a leader ideally he should be the first name on the teamsheet and your best player. Mickey D ticks every box. One of the best players I’ve seen in a county shirt. Should be a league one starter atleast.

Pipe for me

Will he start every match? Will he be the first name on the teamsheet? Good candidate for Club captain though.

Can only be Demetriou for me.

Amond as vice captain

MD all day long, hoping Pipe, as good a servant as he’s been, will be, at best, bit part this season. The fact he’s got a fitness role with the club means he’s already preparing fir life after footy.

Someone one who has the respect of the squad, is a motivator on and off the pitch, someone who has the managers and the players back and ensures any issues are dealt with quickly and effectively, helps the manager carry out tactics and is a leader on matchday.

Cant believe there hasn't been one mention of O'Brien.

What you see with him is what you get.....Not the most skilful of players but gives 100% EVERY game and would run through a brick wall for the club he is playing for.....Thankfully that is us next season.

excellent book, especially the chapter where he explains what happens when he turned down a new contract with crawley at the end of the previous season & had to except a lower offer at the start of the next season when he couldn't find another club, also if anyone else gets to read it you can also see where Herefords financial problems came from when he talks about the wages they were paying when he was with them.
